IMI Level 3 Automotive Refrigerant Handling or as we call it F-Gas fast track is a blended training delivery solution for those who struggle to spend much time away from the workshop. After completing the F gas training online over just 1 day you’ll attend one of our assessment centres to receive some additional tuition and conduct your Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) online assessment and complete a number of assessed practical tasks.
Successful learners will achieve an IMI Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (EC842-2006) (VRQ) (500/6771/0). This Award is a qualification for life and so there will be no need to be reassessed periodically.
F Gas Course Outcomes:
- Understand the operation of air conditioning systems in motor vehicles from the refrigerant cycle, to latent heat and the operation of variable swash plate compressors.
- Learn about the use and properties of the fluorinated greenhouse gases used as refrigerants in air conditioning systems in motor vehicles and the impact of the emissions of these gases on the environment.
- Understand the relevant European directives and regulations.
- Know the correct procedures for recovering fluorinated greenhouse gases.
- Be able to demonstrate how to handle a refrigerant cylinder, including filling, transportation and storage.
- Be able to connect and disconnect a recovery set to and from the high and low pressure service ports of a motor vehicle air conditioning system containing fluorinated refrigerants.
- Be able to operate an air conditioning recycling machine.
- Learn how to diagnose and rectify faults in mobile AC systems.
