This award is designed for those people who may encounter accident-damaged or broken-down vehicles, e.g. emergency services and roadside recovery operators. It contains the knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle’s high & low-voltage electrical system and electric drive train system.

The training is delivered using Our Virtual Academy’s cutting-edge interactive video content including an OVA online exam. Once the learner has completed the training and passed the end test, they will be eligible to attend a face-to-face assessment day at one of our regional assessment centres.

There are no prerequisites for this single-unit qualification.

This 100% online training course is formally recognised IMI TechSafe Hybrid & EV CPD (9 credits worth).

This course covers an essential topic practically everyone working in the motor industry should be well up to speed on – “The Hazard Management of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles”.

Successful candidates will receive a hard copy IMI TechSafe certificate and your TechSafe qualifying CPD will be automatically logged on IMI’s Professional Register.

Retaining IMI TechSafe recognition

A vital part of retaining TechSafe recognition on IMI’s professional register is to keep up to date with your knowledge, skills and competency. This is why IMI-approved TechSafe CPD is a requirement to retain IMI TechSafe recognition.

The 3-year CPD cycle for IMI TechSafe started on the 1st of April 2022. To retain TechSafe recognition you need to complete 18 credits (18 hours) worth of learning over a 3-year period.

This IMI Accredited Professional Development Certificate training course is designed to provide personnel, who may experience incidents involving hybrid and electric vehicles, with sufficient knowledge to manage the potential hazards.

This course can be completed in one go or through multiple logins throughout the three-month access period. All of the training is conducted online through watching our interactive video-based chapters and once completed, all of the training material can be revisited multiple times too. The end test will need to be overseen by a manager and a ‘Manager Invigilation Form’ will need to be submitted back to us to claim the IMI Accredited Professional Development Certificate from the awarding body.
